Anthony R. Toweson, born in Hammond, Indiana, is a graduate of Highland High School, Highland, Indiana and Valparaiso University, Valparaiso, Indiana where he received his B.A. He obtained his Master’s Degree in Arts/Liberal studies at Valparaiso University in 1989 and his Juris Doctorate degree from the Thomas M. Cooley School of Law, Lansing, Michigan in 1992. He is a litigation attorney with a primary service to clientele area of criminal defense, with a special emphasis on defending individuals charged with drinking/driving offenses in West Michigan. He is a member of the State Bars of Michigan and Indiana, Michigan State Bar Criminal Law Section, Criminal Defense Attorneys of Michigan, Kalamazoo County Bar Association and Kalamazoo Trial Lawyers Association. Mr. Toweson has handled criminal appeals before th Michigan Supreme Court and the Michigan Court of Appeals which resulted in published opinions. He is the author of the Drunk Driving Section published in Counsel for the Counselor Practice Tips Handbook and has lectured to police officers through- out Southwest Michigan receiving advanced training at Drunk Driving Detection Seminars since 1997. Mr. Toweson has been a lecturer for the Michigan Institute of Continuing Legal Education on issues related to Chemical Testing, Trying the Drunk Driving Case and Practical Skills for New Lawyers in Defending Drunk Driving Cases.
