George T. Perrett, born in Hendersonville, North Carolina, graduated from Ann Arbor Pioneer High School in Ann Arbor, Michigan. In 1986, he received his Bachelor of Arts, with distinction, in economics and political science from Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio. In 1989, he received his law degree from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Michigan and the Calhoun County Bar Association. In addition to his practice in state courts, he has also practiced in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Michigan and before the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. George is very actively involved in various community organizations. For six years, from 1995 to 2001, he served as a Calhoun County Commissioner and was chairperson of the board in 1996 and 1997. In 2000, he was the Republican candidate for the Michigan House of Representatives, 62nd District. He currently serves on the Summit Pointe Board of Directors, the Calhoun County Board of Health, the Urban League of Battle Creek Board of Directors, the Customer Relations Service Corporation Board of Directors and the Calhoun County Bar Association Executive Committee. He has also served on the United Way of Greater Battle Creek Board of Directors, the Battle Creek Community Chorus Board of Directors, the United Arts Council of Calhoun County Board of Directors, as President of the Calhoun County Bar Association in 1994-95 and, from 1991 to 2000, he served as a member of the State Bar of Michigan Subcommittee on Professional Ethics. George's practice emphasis is in the area of civil and probate/estate litigation, family law, estate planning and bankruptcy. He also has extensive experience in school law and litigation and employment law and litigation. He resides in Marshall, Michigan, with his two young children.
