H. VAN DEN BERG HATCH has been practicing law for more than 40 years. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Dartmouth College, and earned a Juris Doctor degree with distinction from the University of Michigan Law School. While at the U of M, Mr. Hatch was an associate editor of the Michigan Law Review and was selected to the Order of Coif and the Society of Barristers. Upon graduation he joined the U.S. Army, serving three years in the Judge Advocate General Corps. After leaving the Army, Mr. Hatch joined his father, Hazen J. Hatch, in private practice in Marshall, Michigan where his grandfather, Jesse M. Hatch, began practicing law in 1880. His uncle, Blaine W. Hatch, was Circuit Judge in Calhoun County from 1927 to 1959. A native of Michigan, Mr. Hatch attended Marshall public schools and Battle Creek Lakeview High School. He served as a delegate to the Michigan Constitutional Convention, is a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers and in Michigan State Bar Foundation, and is past president of the Calhoun County Bar Association. Mr. Hatch's practice has been predominately in the area of civil litigation including zoning, employment, civil rights, real property, as well as personal injury. Mr. Hatch has also had extensive experience in assisting clients with their estate planning needs. In addition to divorce and matrimonial matters, the firm also engages in wrongful death and serious personal injury cases. It also handles general civil litigation, probate matters, and specializes in the handling of all aspects of drinking and driving offenses. The firm also represents numerous business and corporate clients. The firm has members licensed to practice law in both Michigan and Indiana.
